What was supposed to be a small community gathering at our usual training ground turned into something far greater, a true international FPV showdown. Pilots from Malaysia, Singapore, and even Korea came together for the first-ever Open Spec 5-inch race under the Underground.KL MultiGP Chapter. The sun blazed, the humidity clung to us like a second skin, and the threat of evening thunderstorms loomed, but nothing could dampen our spirits.

From the moment we arrived, the community spirit was in full force. Tents went up, nets were secured, and drinks were stocked. We welcomed our foreign guests with open arms and fresh props. Setting up the track was a true team effort, with everyone pitching in to make sure we had a racecourse worthy of the talent that had gathered.

The Ultimate Showdown – Unlimited Zippy Q Qualifying

We kicked things off with a quick safety briefing before diving straight into an exciting qualifying round. The format? Unlimited Zippy Q; fly whenever you want, with whoever you want, and on whatever channel works best. If your video feed was bad? No worries, just hop in for another run. It was freedom, adrenaline, and skill all rolled into one.

Qualifying Highlights

The pilots came in hot, pushing their quads to the limit. Here’s how the top five stacked up:

  • CJFPV (Korea) – Fastest 3 laps in 32.371s, with a blistering fastest lap of 10.606s across 46 laps
  • AMKFPV (Malaysia) – 3 laps in 35.659s, consistently flying at an average lap time of 13.630s over 28 laps.

  • Arisya (Malaysia) – The youngest girl in the race, showing insane talent with a fastest lap of 12.424s and securing third with 38.161s for 3 laps.

The Race Heats Up – Sports and Pro Categories

With the sun starting to dip and the clouds creeping in, we moved on to the Sports category, where all pilots from rank 17 onwards battled in a single-elimination format. Even the first-time racers who struggled to finish a lap never backed down, proving that FPV is about perseverance as much as skill. The energy was electric, cheers, shouts, and that unmistakable roar of 5-inch quads ripping through the track.

Then came the Pro Category, a high-stakes, double-elimination battle featuring the top 16 pilots. The finals boiled down to four incredible competitors:

CJFPV – A lightning-fast pilot from Korea making his debut in Malaysia.
AMKFPV – Malaysia’s national champion, a force to be reckoned with.
Arisya – One of the top 10 fastest female FPV pilots in the world, proving that age and gender are no barriers in drone racing.
VynFPV – A national team pilot, bringing raw speed and precision to the track.

With the race at its peak, drama struck. The darkening clouds loomed overhead, and in a moment of pure chaos, someone accidentally cut the timer cable. No time for repairs, we went old school, relying on spotters to manually count laps. It was a true test of skill, focus, and sheer willpower.

And the final podium? CJFPV from Korea took home the win, proving unstoppable. AMKFPV secured second, while Arisya clinched third, marking a historic moment for Malaysia’s young rising star.

As the last quads landed and the winners stood proudly on the podium, the true spirit of FPV racing shone through. We handed out prizes, shared laughs, and started tearing down the setup. Everyone pitched in, because that’s what makes this community so special.

This was more than just a race. It was a celebration of passion, skill, and friendship. We flew, we cheered, we fought through challenges together. And as we wrapped up at our new favorite venue, Bukit Expo UPM, one thing was clear:

This is just the beginning. Underground.KL is here to stay, and the next race is going to be even bigger. Stay tuned.

As always… .Lambat… Tinggal…
